The treatment timeline

Stage one: before you book anything

• Send a recent panoramic X-ray (OPG). Your own dentist can usually take one.
• Tell us about your medical history and every medicine you take, especially blood thinners and medicines for the bones.
• You receive a written plan: how many implants, which brand, which teeth come out, and the price.
• The UK government's travel advice for Turkey suggests discussing plans with your own doctor or dentist first and doing your own research rather than relying only on a clinic's material. We agree, and that includes our material.

Stage two: the first visit

1. Arrival: you are met at Antalya airport and taken to your hotel.
2. Assessment: a 3D scan, a conversation about the plan and time for your questions. The plan is only finalised after this.
3. Surgery: any teeth that cannot be kept are removed (free of charge with us) and the six implants are placed, under local anaesthetic or sedation.
4. Temporary teeth: a fixed temporary bridge is fitted, so you do not travel home without teeth.
5. Review: before you fly, we check how you are healing and give you written instructions.

Stage three: healing at home

The implants need to fuse firmly with the bone. The Oral Health Foundation gives about four months as a typical figure. With us, the gap between visits is usually 3 to 6 months, depending on your bone and how you heal. In that time you eat soft food and look after the temporary teeth carefully; chapter 4 explains how.

Stage four: the second visit

• Fresh impressions, or a digital scan, of where the implants sit.
• A try-in, so the shape, shade, bite and your speech can be checked before the bridge is finished.
• The zirconia bridge is fitted on its titanium bar and the bite is fine-tuned.
• You leave with your implant passport and copies of every scan for your dentist at home.

Back to normal life

Most of our patients are back at work within 2 to 3 days of surgery, though physical jobs can take longer. Arrange check-ups with a dentist near home: fixed teeth need care and regular review for life.

Questions readers ask

How long will I be away?

At Precious Dental the first visit is 4 nights and the second 5 nights. The hotel and transfers are in the All-on-6 price; flights are not.

Will I have teeth between the two visits?

Yes. You fly home with fixed temporary teeth fitted on the first visit.

Is the surgery painful?

It is done under local anaesthetic or sedation. Afterwards, swelling and tenderness for a few days are normal and are managed with painkillers.

Will I get records for my dentist at home?

Yes. Every implant patient receives an implant passport with the brand and type of each implant, plus copies of the X-rays and 3D scans.
